FaBRiC History
Following incorporation in 1991, FaBRiC received HACC funding to provide respite to families with children with disabilities living in the ACT. Respite was provided on a one-to-one basis by Support Workers in a flexible way that best met the families needs.
Where does the name FaBRiC come from?
The name FaBRiC was developed by a Steering Committee comprising families and Support Workers that was established to set-up FaBRiC.
The name FaBRiC depicts an image that correlates with threads woven into fabric. In one direction is the family and in the other direction is the Support Worker. One without the other has no strength.
The capital letters themselves stand for:
F Family
B Based
R Respite
C Care
When padded out with an 'a' and an 'i', you have the acronym 'FaBRiC'
